Frequently Asked Questions
The items you place in a skip bin depend on the type of bin you order. Please check out our “what goes in the bin” link for a comprehensive list of what items can go in what bins. When selecting a bin, you can save a lot of money if your bin is all one type of product, or a recyclable product. For example, an all brick bin will be cheaper if its all the one product. If you mix gyrprock, timber, clay etc it woild ultimately cost more.
Selecting the right bin can be difficult. Our “Bin size guide” gives some comparisons with wheel burrows. We also provide the exact dimensions and cubic metre volume to assist. Our team can help based on experience, but ultimately it is the clients’ decision to work out which bin you need. If you run out of space, you can always order extra bins. If you want to be safe, you could order a larger bin but the risk is you pay for that size even if it’s not full.
Unfortunately not. The price of the bin you order is the same cost whether you utilise the allowable weight and volume or not.
Yes. When selecting our bin providers they need to meet a stringent recycling policy to ensure as much of the waste possible is recycled and doesn’t go onto land fill. Skip bin operators are motivated to recycle as it ultimately means they have less tipping costs.
Payment is upfront prior to delivery and can be done via credit card or bank transfer only.
It is best where possible to place the skip bin within the boundaries of your property. If there isn’t enough space available, you can place skip bins on council nature strips or on the side of the road. In order to do this you do need to obtain consent from the council and get a permit and follow local parking rules. For example, you cant place a skip bin in a clear way or no stopping zone. We can assist with this if required. The customer is responsible for the bin whilst in possession and is responsible for any unlawful placement, including liability for fines if incurred.
In most cases, no. The bins are hoisted on and off the truck with a hydraulic crane system. However, if you are concerned it is a good idea to place some lengths of sturdy timber underneath where the bin is to be placed for extra protection, or you could lay down some plywood sheets.
Typically the bin hire is up to 7 days. If you require longer than this please let us know. An additional small extra fee may be applicable in some cases depending on the extended duration
