A helpful guide to hiring a skip bin

How long do you get to keep a skip bin for?

Typically speaking, skip bin hire usually ranges from a couple of days through to a few weeks. Most clients will typically fill a bin in a week, but up to three weeks is acceptable. If you require skip bin hire for more than 3 weeks, additional charges apply, contact us.

What size skip bin do I need?

The size of the skip bin hire you need will depend on the amount of waste you have. Skip bins come in different sizes, ranging from 2 cubic meters to 30 cubic metre. A 2 cubic metre bin is suitable for small household projects, while a 30 cubic metre bin is suitable for larger commercial projects like new builds, renovations and office fit outs.

The cost difference between some sizes of marrell bins is very small, so it’s often better to get a larger size than you anticipate as, more often than not, clients under estimate the size they need and end up having to hire additional marrell bins, which work out less cost-efficient.

What type of waste can I put in a skip bin?

Various waste types can go in our skip bins. Common uses are for general household waste, green waste and construction waste. Our skip bin waste guide will let you know what waste can go in each bin so you can choose the right one.

However, there are restrictions on certain types of waste, such as asbestos, batteries, and chemicals. It’s important to check with us first what can go in and what can’t. If you fill a bin with non-allowable items, the bin could be returned, and you would need to remove them, or you could be up for large tipping fees.

Can I move the skip bin once it has been delivered?

Once a skip bin has been delivered, it’s not recommended to move it as it can cause damage to the property or the skip bin itself. If you need to move the skip bin, you should contact us first. A fee will apply for a skip bin truck to return to your location and move it
